\"\"Open science aims to uphold rigorous scientific practices, improve access to knowledge, and maximise engagement and participation in the scientific process for the greater common good. Following the 40th session of its General Conference<\/a>, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO<\/a>) was tasked with preparing a Recommendation on Open Science to provide its member states with an international framework for open science policy and practice. The first draft of the Recommendation<\/a> has recently been developed with the goal of enabling \u201cuniversal access to scientific knowledge, regardless of geography, gender, political boundaries, ethnicity or economic or technological barriers\u201d.<\/p>\n
